Why Do Women Experience Hairloss?
If you loose your hair as a man it is a worrying experience, but for a women, it is far harder to come to terms with the situation. It is expected that a man will loose hair over his lifetime, and it is not unusual to see bald men. The experience of baldness or thinning hair is a different one for women, and attracts the wrong type of interest. This attention will often bring with it social issues, making an uncomfortable situation for the woman.
The onset of Hairloss can be an uncontrollable event striking at any time in a person’s life. If you are a man then you are not going to be happy with your situation, but you are likely to be more accepting of the situation. If there is evidence that baldness is a genetic family feature then it is especially true. But as a female, hairloss can have a devastating effect on your life, and trigger a total change in circumstance. I have listed below some reasons why hairloss can strike a woman:
1. Stress
This is much more common than most people would think, and can trigger a thinning of the hair and in some cases a total loss of hair known as Alopecia Totalis. Obviously this can also apply to male hairloss, as everyone suffers from stress at some point in their lives. Hairloss that may be attributed to stress can be treated with positive effects – just concentrate on the problem and try to eradicate it.
2. Hormonal Imbalance
Some women suffer from hormonal imbalances, including male pattern baldness which is the presence of too much male hormone in the body. Women can also suffer from a deficiency of female hormones, a condition called estrogenic baldness. The condition is also sometimes referred to as female pattern baldness.
What are the causes of these hormonal imbalances causing hairloss in women’s lives? The usual suspects are the menopause, oral contraceptives like the Pill, and post-natal stages of pregnancy.
3. Pregnancy
It is not unnatural having given birth, to experience some degree of female hairloss. This is caused by higher than normal levels of estrogen which develops during the pregnancy term. This is a temporary hairloss condition, and is a direct result of a readjustment of estrogen to the correct levels experienced before pregnancy.
